chix on NBC4 news : Check out this video clip from the Going Green Special on Chix that was aired on Tuesday January 13th 2009 on NBC4 news.

The Washington Post's Express revisited Chix saying that "while it has been around for a while, this eco-friendly, health conscious establishment deserves a reintroduction. Chix falls into that miraculous category of eatery — it's not fast food, but at $8-$10 an entree it won't break the bank either. It's also perfect for a sit down meal in the restaurant's modest dining room or to take home. Finally, we must note their brilliant reverse happy hour on Friday and Saturday nights, when bottles of wine are $10 from 8-10 p.m."

Chix was featured in The Washingtonian's list of Great Take-Outand the 2008 edition of Cheap Eats

The Washington Blade refers to Chix as a "new breed" in the restaurant industry, and the March/April 08 issue of the Washington Flyer discusses us in an article titled "Raising the Bar."

"The motto is "eat responsibly," but there's nothing preachy about Chix, the new eco-friendly takeout in the U Street corridor. Yes, 50 percent of the ingredients are organic -- and more, when available. Yes, the walls are painted a bright spring green, and the plates and cutlery are made of biodegradable materials. But the good intentions aren't why people keep coming back. It's the food."

Going out Gurus has something to say about Chix and being environmentally responsible - here's an excerpt:  "The three-week-old Chix is setting a new standard for environmental consciousness. Much of the restaurant is built with sustainable materials, including bamboo countertops and cork flooring. The cups and dressing containers look like plastic, but they are actually containers made from corn that compost in under two months. (Plastic cups, on the other hand, do not degrade in landfills.) Chix's plates and takeout boxes are made from a compostable and biodegradable sugar-cane fiber called bagasse, and the napkins, takeout bags, menus and even business cards are made from recycled paper."  - Erin Hartigan (Dec 2007)
